Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in conducting GIS surveys and preparing reports for project research.
• Support quality control standards for accurate data collection, documentation, and analysis.
• Perform basic GIS tasks such as digital mapping, integrating topographical data, and validating spatial data.
• Generate and maintain precise documentation using field notes and software tools.
• Assist in researching and visualizing project geography and participate in public exhibits when necessary.
• Learn and apply the latest GIS methods and technologies to create maps, graphs, and data visualizations.
• Comply with safety guidelines and maintain project artifacts and documentation.
• Participate in training sessions and complete assigned tasks to support the GIS team.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a degree program in GIS, Environmental Science, Planning, Technology, or a related field.
• Familiarity with ESRI’s ArcGIS platform and an understanding of AutoCAD, Python, or SQL is a plus.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with an attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic proficiency with office software and GIS tools.
• Flexibility to work in both office and field environments as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods.
• Capacity to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Hours And Travel

This internship could require a commitment of approximately 40 hours per week, with a mix of office and fieldwork. Some travel may be required depending on project needs.
