Job Title: Pharmacy TechnicianJob Description The Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role within the pharmacy team, operating at an entry, developmental, and training level. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the technician is responsible for non-sterile compounding and central pharmacy operations, including the preparation of medication. The role requires a basic understanding of medication responsibilities and pharmacy operations, providing home infusion pharmacy services, enteral therapy, and other specialized injectable therapies for pediatric patients and adults with childhood diseases such as cystic fibrosis and hemophilia. Responsibilities + Perform all duties in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, including Service Standards and Code of Conduct. + Inventory supplies by checking for shortages, rotating stock, and removing expired medications. + Accurately prepare medications and other supplies for transport. + Fill medication trays and ensure accuracy. + Audit medications for accuracy. + Float between the IV Room and Delivery Room, assisting in various tasks. + Answer phone calls from families and complete refill requests for supplies. + Triage fax queue and fill prescriptions before submitting for pharmacist check. + Audit 15-20 delivery tickets per day. Essential Skills + Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or licensed as a Pharmacy Intern by the California Board of Pharmacy. + Experience in pharmacy operations, with a minimum of 6 months to 1 year, preferably in a retail setting. + IV experience or willingness to work as a Pharmacy Supply Technician without it. + Data entry skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Sterile compounding experience is highly desirable. + Experience with fulfillment and compounding. + Ability to work efficiently in a team of 6 within the IV Room. Work Environment This role is based in a Home Pharmacy department, working Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a projected 40 hours per week. The position is initially a 5-6 month assignment covering a long-term leave of absence, with the possibility of extension. The pharmacy technician will be part of a team specializing in caring for children with complex needs, providing exemplary care to children who require home infusion therapies and other specialized treatments. The work environment emphasizes collaboration with families to achieve optimal care results. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00/hr.
