This Registered Nurse (RN) position in a Stepdown/PCU unit requires a minimum of one year of experience and focuses on providing skilled nursing care to patients requiring telemetry monitoring and various levels of cardiac and other specialized care. The role involves a 3x12 night shift (with potential for 4x12s), every other weekend rotation, and floating as needed within the unit's scope.

Responsibilities:
- Providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Stepdown/PCU unit, including assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning.
- Monitoring patient vital signs, interpreting dysrhythmias, and managing cardiac drips (excluding titration).
- Administering medications, including heparin protocols, vasoactive drips (excluding titration), PCA, and procedural sedation.
- Managing various types of lines and devices (arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, peripheral lines, ports).
- Performing phlebotomy, accessing ports, and administering blood products.
- Providing care for patients with various conditions, including post-cardiac procedures, neurological issues, orthopedic needs, and respiratory complications.
- Utilizing cardiac monitoring equipment and responding to emergencies.
- Maintaining accurate patient records using Cerner.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Minimum one year of experience in a Stepdown/PCU, Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, or similar unit.
- BLS and NIH certifications.
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management.
- Skill in managing various IV lines, administering medications, and providing respiratory care.
- Experience with various patient populations and conditions (cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, respiratory).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- ACLS certification.
- Cerner experience.
- Experience in a teaching hospital or Level I Trauma Center.
Special Considerations:
- 3x12 night shift (potential for 4x12s).
- Every other weekend rotation.
- Floating within the unit's scope as needed.
- No on-call requirements.
- Maximum 5-day RTO restriction.
- Guaranteed hours with a clause for client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment.
Scheduling:
- 3x12 night shift (1845-0715), with potential for 4x12 shifts based on candidate preference.
- Every other weekend work is required.
- Shift assignments and block scheduling are negotiable with the manager.
