Job Description:
We are seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator to manage and maintain SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments, with expertise in backup and restore processes, query optimization, logging and monitoring, authentication and authorization, and the upgrade and retirement of legacy systems. The role involves managing database backups using native tools and AWS Backup, optimizing queries, handling vendor/shadow database queries, implementing logging and monitoring solutions, integrating security systems, and designing authentication and authorization frameworks. The candidate will oversee RDS and EC2 SQL Server and PostgreSQL upgrades, work with both Windows and GNU/Linux environments, and leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CDK and Terraform while managing cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Proven experience as an SQL Server Database Administrator.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Expertise in backup and restore strategies, query optimization, and monitoring.
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based databases (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with authentication and authorization architectures.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CDK and Terraform.
• Experience working with both Windows and GNU/Linux environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with vendor/shadow database queries.
• Knowledge of database security best practices.
