Job Title:    Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice

Location:    Janesville, WI

Blair Fire Protection, a top industry leader in fire prevention and protection, is seeking a Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice to join their growing team in the Janesville, WI area. Showcase your mechanical aptitude, work ethic, and commitment while working side-by-side with a skilled journeyman sprinkler fitter to learn the sprinkler fitter trade.

Apprentices will complete on-the-job training along with an apprenticeship program toward becoming a journeyman sprinkler fitter specializing in the installation of automatic fire protection systems. Your employment relationship will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement with UA Local 669 upon hire.

The UA Local 669 collective bargaining agreement provides per day subsistence pay for mileage over 60 miles from home to job site.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hand tool experience are required
• Prior experience in construction fields such as plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or electrician is a plus
• Must be able to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift 100 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk frequently during an 8 to 10-hour shift
• A high school diploma or GED is required
• A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required
• Must be at least 18 years old

Responsibilities

• Distribute the piping and accessories from the truck to the designated material laydown area
• Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints
• Install, inspect, and repair fire sprinkler systems
• Complete correspondence coursework toward becoming a journeyman sprinkler fitter
• Learn applicable fire protection codes and obtain applicable state licenses
• Clean up job site vehicle and tools
• Travel to job sites as required. Must have reliable transportation.
